Explanation Regarding Indonesia's IT Development

Information Technology has increasingly developed over time.  The development of IT in Indonesia has many positive impacts for us, including our ease in obtaining the information we need whenever and wherever we are.  All that we get is only by connecting a computer or smartphone to the internet so we can access without limits.  In addition to getting information, information technology also makes it easier for us to communicate with other parties throughout the world.
Explanation Regarding Indonesia's IT Development
Information Technology
Information technology is computer and internet-based technology.  Information technology is used in data processing, which includes processing, obtaining data, compiling data, storing data and manipulating data in various ways so as to present quality information, which is accurate, relevant and timely information.

Information technology uses a set of computers in the framework of data processing and network systems that function to connect between computers as needed.  In the end, information technology continues to develop broadly in terms of its implications and effects even exceeding computer technology.

Development of Information Technology in Indonesia

The development of IT in Indonesia began with the University of Indonesia.  Based on records from the Faculty of Computer Science UI, computer technology was introduced in Indonesia around 1970-1972.  University of Indonesia is one of the universities that became the introduction of computer technology.  Then in 1979 the organization IPKIN (Indonesian Computer Users Association) held the National Computer Conference I.

around 1984, the Indonesian technology network began to be connected to the internet through UI-net, the internal internet campus of the University of Indonesia campus.  In 1986, UI-net was able to connect with other campuses such as UGM, ITB, ITS, UNJHAS and the Director General of the Ministry of Education and Culture.  The network was then called UNINET, which was created with foreign assistance using the cable telephone network infrastructure of PT Indosat and SKDP Packsatnet satellites.  To connect all tertiary institutions in Indonesia, four servers were created which were then placed at the Bandung Institute of Technology, Gajah Mada University, the University of Indonesia and the Surabaya Institute of Technology.

The network can be connected to the world's major computer networks such as Networks, Biznet, usenet, CSNET, UUCPNET, UUNET, MUNNARI, KAIST, and ARPANET which were internet networks at that time.  Finally in 1993, the Indonesian computer network was officially connected and incorporated into the world internet network and from then on the Indonesian domain, the id, began to be recognized on the internet.  The world internet agency (IANA) officially provides a domain on computer networks found in Indonesia with the use of the first TCP / IP protocol.

In 1999, several dozen dotcom companies were born.  Followed by the emergence of media with information technology education segment.  Promotions, exhibitions, seminars and conferences on information technology also appear in a row.  Along with this the number of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) has also increased from 20 to 160.

In 2013, the development of IT in Indonesia increasingly showed an increase in broadband internet speed of 3.29 Mbps, and subsequently in 2014 it increased to 4.79 Mbps.  Net Index records the 20 fastest ISPs in Indonesia and Linknett is in first place with a download speed of 17.07 Mbps.

 Use of Information Technology

The development of information technology has entered into all aspects of human life.  Technology makes things easier, including work that is more effective and efficient.  These benefits encourage the concept of e-activity in Indonesia, which began in 1994, including e-government, e-commerce, e-banking, e-transaction.

The Jokowi government also implements various applications such as e-budgeting, e-purchasing, e-procurement, e-catalog, e-audit, online IMB, and online taxation.  No lag, there are also e-KTP and BPJS online and many other applications based on information technology.  Furthermore, with the development of the mobile technology system, eventually the concept of m-business, m-banking, m-transaction, and m-commerce was born.

Meanwhile some government concepts in the use of IT are:

  • TKIT (Information Technology Governance) IT Governance
  • APKASI (All Indonesian District Government Association)
  • WARINTEK (Information Technology Shop)
  • SISFONAS (National Information System) E-Government

Thus the explanation of the development of IT in Indonesia.  May be useful.
